Dr. Jeffrey Hosmer – Senior Pastor
Jeff is approaching the 40th anniversaries of his wedding to Bobbi, his graduation from Princeton Seminary, and his ordination to ministry in the Presbyterian Church. Since then he has served at First Presbyterian in Lancaster, PA, Forest Hills Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, PA, and Northminster Presbyterian in Cincinnati, OH. He left a twenty-two year pastorate when he was called in 2015 to become the third Senior Pastor of North Lake.
Jeff grew up as a word nerd, avid reader, and enthusiastic learner. Today he’s a real Word nerd, an avid reader of scripture, and enthusiastic disciple of Jesus Christ. He considers the responsibilities of pastor and preacher a sacred calling and trust. He acknowledges that he’s still learning the Way. But he cherishes the opportunity to invite others to join a lifelong journey in a Jesus direction.
Jeff and Bobbi have three married children and four grandchildren spread out in Orlando, Minneapolis, and San Francisco. Through the years Bobbi has been an incredible partner in ministry, with her own ways of serving in the church and community. When they are not engaged in a church activity or spending time with family, they enjoy swimming, biking, taking care of the home and garden, and exploring the beauty of central Florida. Pastor Shawn Smith – Associate Pastor
Shawn is a native of Tacoma, Washington and graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a Bachelors of Arts in Education Ministries. He attended Princeton Theological Seminary and graduated in 2005 with a Masters of Divinity and was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA). While at Princeton, Shawn served at New Providence Presbyterian Church and he and his wife welcomed their first child. After graduating Princeton and leaving New Jersey, Shawn served Presbyterian churches in California, Virginia, Illinois and Florida. Shawn and his wife have been married for 21 years and have five children ages 5 to 17. They have faithfully served the church together throughout their marriage.
Shawn’s goal is to help people of faith grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Shawn sees each day as an opportunity to grow closer to God through prayer, studying scripture and learning within a community. In the Christian faith the hard work, the impossible work, is already done. Jesus accomplished it, when He reconciled us with God, and now we are free to grow as people. Shawn interprets being a disciple as always being hungry for more of God. What does it mean to have more of God in our day to day lives with family, friends, neighbors and co-workers? Shawn is passionate about answering this question and being on this life long journey together with the community of North Lake Presbyterian Church. Email Associate Pastor Shawn Smith.
Pastor Lynn Miller – Director of Congregational Care
After spending many years in the dental field and raising four children, Lynn and her husband Tom retired from Hatboro, Pennsylvania to sunny Florida. They enjoyed sailing, traveling and golfing, but God had other plans. Lynn became a Stephen Minister, Stephen Leader, Elder and member of the ‘Order of St. Luke’. God was still directing her to more; she completed University of Dubuque Theological Seminary’s Lay Pastor Program and then became a trained and certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator. She feels blessed to wake up every morning and serve our risen LORD right here at North Lake Presbyterian Church.” Email Pastor Lynn Miller
Pastor Jerry Lion – Visitation Pastor
Rev. Jerry Lion serves as Church Visitation Pastor, a fifteen hour a week position (primarily on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.) He visits church members and others in the hospitals, rehab facilities, and memory care units. He enjoys reading, writing, gardening, swimming, politics, and is a real news hound. He is a prayer leader, an Alpha co-director and a teacher of a course on Heaven. “God has blessed us with 40 years of marriage and with three adult children and seven grandchildren who live in Orlando, upstate New York, and Ireland. We have found that being grandparents is a distinct calling from the Lord.” Jerry is an ordained minister in the Christian Reformed Church, a graduate of Calvin College and Calvin Theological Seminary. He retired in 2016 after 36 years of ministry in churches in Minnesota, Michigan, the state of Washington, and Connecticut. “I love people and I love ministry in NLPC. It is an honor and privilege to help many in the last chapter of their lives, to help them run the final stretch of their race with joy and gratitude as they look forward to seeing Jesus and other beloved family members who have already passed into glory.” Email Pastor Jerry Lion
