Ash Wednesday Service
Wednesday, March 6, 2019
My friends, every year we are given the opportunity to celebrate our redemption through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Lent is a time to prepare for this celebration and to renew our life. We begin the Holy Season by acknowledging our need for repentance, and for the mercy and forgiveness proclaimed in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Pastor Lynn Miller
Ushers are needed for the 8:15 a.m. service on Sundays. If you would like to volunteer to be an usher or a lead usher, please contact Linda Mancinelli at 203-260-3752.
Food Pantry Sunday is next week. Show your love by bringing in one or more of the following needed items:
A Mission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 26, at 10:00 a.m. in the Faith Room.
We are in need of more cookies to continue our ministry on Sunday mornings. You would bake or buy 4 to 5 dozen treats five time a year. You are assigned a leader who will get you a schedule and call to remind you of the dates you are scheduled to bring in the treats. When you arrive at the church on the date you are to bring in the treats, you would just drop them off at the cafe with your name and service time indicated.
We need your help to continue this ministry of hospitality at our church. Please call Judy McNeely (cookie coordinator) if you can help at 750-0859.
There’s still time to sign up for the upcoming Lenten Discussion Groups. Pastor Jeff will begin the Lenten sermon series on The Lord's Prayer on March 10th. Church wide discussion groups will take place during the five weeks of Lent. You can sign up at the discipleship desk or online. The following new groups still have openings:
· Meeting Monday's 10:00 - 11:15 a.m. In the Grace Room (Kathy Anderson, Group Leader)
· Meeting Tuesday's 10:00 -11:15 a.m. In the church Library (Becky Bros, Group Leader)
· Meeting Wednesday's 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at her home in the Village of Sanibel (Dr. Beth Gessner, Group Leader)
· LADIES GROUP Meeting Thursday's 7:00 - 8:15 p.m. at her home in the Village of Bridgeport (Dottie Wise, Group Leader)
Sunday, February 24, is the final day to collect children’s undies. We have high hopes of meeting our goal of 5,000 plus pairs! Thank you for all you have done for the children of Haiti!
