Qualifications

• Gifted, enthusiastic person with a passion for leading a congregation into the presence of God based on a sincere commitment to Jesus Christ and His Church
• Posses the necessary abilities and skills to develop and build a contemporary worship praise team and to relate effectively with the congregation.
• Be able, through music, to connect the congregation to the Spirirt of God, so as to change and transform their lives.
• Formal training or experience in planning, coordinating and developing a contemporary worship service
• Be a skilled vocalist and a proficient musician in either piano/keyboard and/or lead guitar.
• Possess the musical skills and the ability to prepare and arrange music for vocal and instrumental expression.
• Aptitude to recruit, train, and rehearse a contemporary worship praise team in order to provide meaningful worship.
• Ability to relate and work well with a church staff and lay leadership.
• Talent to manage a financial budget for the Contemporary Worship program.
• Be familiar with contemporary worship resources such as Song Discovery, Integrity Music, and Hosanna.
• Have working knowledge and experience with multi-media and sound equipment as well as computer programs such as PowerPoint and Media Shout.
• Bachelor's Degree in music, contemporary church music, or music education is preferred.
• At least 2 years previous experience in leading a praise team is desirable.

Job Description

     The primary function of this position is to provide leadership to lead the Contemporary Worship Service(s) to connect the congregation to the Spirit of God. This will include recruiting, auditioning, and selecting vocalists and musicians. The Worship Leader will select, order, and coordinate all music for the worship service. The team must be ready to lead worship, both musically and spiritually, each week, and for special services. The Worship Leader will develop innovative use of drama, dance or other artistic creativity for the worship service on occasions, interact with the sound and multi-media technicians, be the liaison between these techs and the worship team, and weekly coordinate all programming and musical selections with the Worship Planning Team. Worship Leader will work with the Director of Youth Ministries and the Logos Director to build exciting programs for the youth, present an All Contemporary Venue concert at least annually, and develop and maintain a presence in the surrounding community.

Accountability

     The Contemporary Worship Leader, as a member of the church and the staff, represents the total church and will promote the health of the church. The Leader reports to the Senior Pastor, and has a working relationship with the Director of Music. As a staff member, is required to be in regular contact and attendance at weekly staff meetings to ensure proper communication and coordination, and is encouraged to attend church wide functions.
