VBS SUCCESS!
Vacation Bible School 2011 was a huge success! Our average daily attendance as 125 children. We had over 40 volunteers working with the children including our amazing North Lake Youth Group.
For those of you who may have had a negative opinion of the young people of today, you certainly weren't seeing our "Youth" in action.
Also, a special thank you to the Puppeteers who added their special skills to our theme song. I would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all our volunteers who were so flexible and willing to help wherever needed. Each person was important and appreciated!
I am proud to say that in our VBS this year, we had four generations of volunteers working with the children. Theo Brown, Linda Brown, Jennifer Beckham and Hannah Beckham all were actively involved with our VBS this year.
That just goes to show you that no matter what your age or your gifts and talents, you should continue to be use them for the good of others.
The Mission project for the week was to collect change to donate to the Christian Food Pantry. A competition between boys and girls ended with the boys collecting the largest amount of money. But the real winner though was the Christian Food Pantry. We handed over a check for $764.37.
That is an amazing amount in just five days. I am sure that the Pantry will find a good use for the extra funds, especially this time of year.
Thanks go to everyone who donated snacks and money and to Ollie's Frozen Custard and to Chick-fil-a for their kind donations.
Hope you will join the fun of VBS next year. You'll be glad you did!
Linda Brown,
VBS Director
P.S.
A "sweet" thanks goes out to the Presbyterian Women. They brought us a bakery full of cupcakes that we served at our family picnic on the last day.
The Family Picnic was a huge success with families joining us at lunch to meet the volunteers and have a meal together. I think there were more than 200 people in attendance. That was a great way to end our week!
